Lucknow: The Yogi Adityanath government of Uttar Pradesh does not want to leave any stone unturned to make the upcoming Maha Kumbh Mela in Sangam city Prayagraj a success. In line with the vision of the Chief Minister, the police is training its employees to adopt a people-centric approach.
In this direction, the police has started a comprehensive training program at the Sankalp Training Pandal located at the Parade Ground here, in which with the motto ‘Safety is yours, Sankalp is ours’, officers are being trained to protect crores of devotees as well as to behave friendly with them.
The police is responsible for the security of 40 crore devotees
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP-Kumbh Mela) Rajesh Dwivedi said that this training camp, which started from October 16, will run till December. In which officers are being trained in two batches in 21 days. He said, “Our emphasis is on the fact that the behavior of the policemen should be so good that people always remember the Maha Kumbh. About 40 crore devotees are expected to attend the world’s largest religious gathering and on the main bathing festival Mauni Amavasya, an estimated 10 crore people will take a holy dip in the Sangam. Therefore, the police has an important responsibility to protect such a huge crowd.
Training is being given to help the devotees in every possible way
The Senior Superintendent of Police said that under skill training, policemen are being taught how they will help the devotees regarding parking, transportation, routes and arrangements. He said that along with this, training is also being given on how to behave politely with sadhus and sanyasis. In this training camp, policemen are also being given information about AI tools like Bhashini app, so that they can talk to foreign tourists and devotees in their language.
According to him, along with this, they are also being given information about ‘chatbot’ so that every possible help can be given to the devotees in this fair. To pay special attention to water safety, personnel of Water Police, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) are being trained so that they can save people from drowning during bathing. These employees will look after the safe operation and safety standards of the boats, while the traffic police will ensure smooth movement of the devotees.
